Speech-Language Therapy Services
ROOTED IN CONNECTION
Evaluations
Services begin with an evaluation in order for therapy sessions to be personalized and meaningful. During an evaluation, we use the unique insight caregivers offer combined with our own formal and informal measures to collect information on your child’s strengths and challenges. If you’ve already had a speech-language evaluation within the last 6 months, we may use that information without conducting our own initial evaluation.
Children will be re-evaluated every 6-12 months to measure on-going progress.
Speech Therapy
Upon completion of the initial-evaluation, we will develop an individualized treatment plan of care. This plan will be catered to each child’s unique needs based on evaluation results and the goals of the child/caregiver(s). Treatment sessions are 45-60 minutes in length and can be offered in-person and virtually. In-home therapy allows us to serve each child in their natural home environment. It allows us to use materials you already have and routines you’re already engaging in to target your child’s communication goals. Virtual therapy is provided across North Carolina.
Augmentative & Alternative communication (AAC)
It can be frustrating for children and families when someone is unable to use spoken words to communicate. It can often cause significant barriers in activities of daily living. AAC can bridge that gap by providing a reliable communication system. This may involve visuals, sign language, use of gestures, or a high-tech device. AAC therapy will facilitate with:

Use age-appropriate speech sounds in words, phrases, sentences and conversations.

Gestalt Language processing
Does your child imitate the melody and rhythm of songs and the intonation of phrases? Do they recite chunks of language after hearing it modeled from a TV show, song or special interaction? They may be a gestalt language processor. We work with children that communicate through echolalia, or scripting using play-based sessions to honor echolalia, model new language, and help each child progress through the stages of natural language acquisition. Therapy will help:
Feel connected and affirmed when communicating
Use their own words to express themselves and be better understood by communication partners
Increase vocabulary and use language for a variety of functions (labeling, requesting, suggesting, directing, protesting, refusing, greeting, commenting, sharing information & more!)
